About Loncon

LonCon, a music festival established in 2021, features two nights of music, art, and camping in upstate New York. Hosted by Big Shrimp, the festival is held in memory of Jager Soss's (Big Shrimp's drummer) uncle, Lon "Conscious" Gellman. Lon, a huge supporter of the jamband scene and recognizable as the friendly face behind the merch booth at Madison Square Garden during Phish runs, was a beloved figure in the music community. In honor of his memory, LonCon was conceived to provide a yearly gathering for those close to Lon, celebrating his life amidst the music he cherished.

The inaugural LonCon took place at Arrowhead Ranch in Parksville, NY, in August 2021, featuring performances by Mihali, Aqueous, Dogs in a Pile, Baked Shrimp (*now big shrimp), Hayley Jane, Rob Compa, and more across two nights of camping. $1 from every ticket was donated to the Lon Conscious Gellman Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in Lon's name for students in financial need at the Aaron Copeland School of Music at Queens College. This tradition will continue in 2024.

LonCon is a place to gather with what Lon would call “frends” in a judgment-free zone, to create memories, relax, dream, and listen to the best up-and-coming music over the course of a weekend. At LonCon, we all #lovelikelon.
